General QuestionsWhat is USOM?USOM is an acronym that stands for United Share-life Outreach Ministries. USOM is a non-profit that works to provide families in developing continents, especially Africa with the basic necessities of life such as food, clean water, shelter, clothing, medicare, life-skills, education and mentorship for empowerment. Where does USOM work?Currently we are working in three countries in Africa...Nigeria, Ghana and the Republic of Benin. We are hoping to soon expand to others countries. What does USOM do?USOM offers four different services to those in developing countries. Healthcare, Clean Water, a joint program of feeding (mostly for orphanages) and aid to Christian families fleeing persecution If you want to learn more about any of these programs and what we do click the links below. How does USOM work with other organisations?USOM is in partenship with about 15 other organizations and counting, both in Canada and abroad. Our team strives to help families by co-operating with other organizations and service providers. We strive to make a lasting difference in these families lives. DonationsCan I donate non-financial gifts such as books and clothing?Yes, we do accept non-financial gifts. As much as medical supplies are our top priority, we are still accepting donations of canned food, clothing and any other products you feel is helpful as there are many other concerning factors that can leave people vulnerable. Is my donation tax-deductible?Yes, all donations to United Sharelife are eligible for tax receipts. Tax-creditable receipts will be automatically issued for all donations of $20 or more, and for lower amounts when requested. We are registered as a Charitable Organization through Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Can I choose the country, age, or sex of the child I want to sponsor?Your choice of a country is currently within the countries USOM covers now, however, you can choose the age and sex of the child you want to sponsor.
